I must have lucked out on that part.

I was going to suggest asking about the Essure thing, but just did a quick check to see what the latest research is on it and after reading this: http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/24/health/fda-essure-contraceptive/ I can't really recommend it. I hope you find a new gyn who's better to work with and can help you find something that works and doesn't have you with The Neverending Period.Tamarhttp://invisiblestairs.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8866345106243176357.post-16032591053851180192016-01-04T11:31:23.693-06:002016-01-04T11:31:23.693-06:00I guess this is why it is so hard to find somethin...I guess this is why it is so hard to find something- everyone is different. I have the paraguard now and still was having trouble with extra heavy and long periods after having it for 3 years. Of course, that was not as bad as the period that never ends. :(ancilla_kssthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10968994155747861194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8866345106243176357.post-45357324552572692382016-01-04T11:06:41.066-06:002016-01-04T11:06:41.066-06:00I've got the copper IUD, Paragard, and I could...I've got the copper IUD, Paragard, and I couldn't be happier with it. I've had it for 3+ years now, I think- with no problems. I couldn't have hormone-related birth control due to having had a DVT (bad blood clot) in the past, and condoms just weren't cutting it, so I read up on options and talked to my Gyn Dr. and she suggested the Essure permanant birth control (insert coils into your tubes, scars 'em over), or the Paragard. I went with the less permanent option, not because I think I will ever have more kids (at 45, I'm so done with that LOL) but because it seemed safer/easier.

It hurt getting inserted, but not as bad as I'd seen others say- and Advil and rest fixed me up to pretty much normal the next day, was just tender and took it easy a few days after. They do say your period could be worse on it- more and longer, especially the first few months, but I didn't see that myself. My periods were normal and then tapered off entirely (might be in perimenopause, though- not sure, seeing my dr. Friday bout that). But I'm pretty happy with the Paragard, myself- no problems on it, don't have to worry about birth control for 10 years, and was covered by my insurance.

Sucks that you're having such a hard time- hope you find something that works for you!Tamarhttp://invisiblestairs.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8866345106243176357.post-27337725113460201362016-01-04T08:42:25.500-06:002016-01-04T08:42:25.500-06:00I have had the Mirena for a year now. I still have some mood issues and bleed a bit, but it's gotten a lot better. I had a lot of issues with the shots and never tried the patches. Before I had kids I use the NuvaRing and loved it. It had enough hormones to regulate my mood and ovarian cysts, but I didn't have to fuss with a pill each day.

Honestly, cost was the only factor I had in trying the Mirena over going back to the NuvaRing. We know we are done having kids, but I still need the hormones to manage my PMDD.

Hope you find something that works for you. I know about the anger at doctors who don't listen.

Hugs,
RyeCollaredMomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09482249049336065850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8866345106243176357.post-12979220548270717002016-01-04T06:47:44.118-06:002016-01-04T06:47:44.118-06:00Why did you have to have the Mirena removed, if yo...Why did you have to have the Mirena removed, if you don't mind sharing?ancilla_kssthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10968994155747861194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8866345106243176357.post-32977034681809005582016-01-03T22:46:43.995-06:002016-01-03T22:46:43.995-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.Mom jeans and jelly beanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05784481426254884088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8866345106243176357.post-36469520094553776132016-01-03T22:44:39.960-06:002016-01-03T22:44:39.960-06:00I hated the shot it made my life hell :( i wish th...I hated the shot it made my life hell :( i wish the best for you.
