The Slave Manual

My Master told me there IS a manual.

I asked if I could read it so I could finally get this slaving thing right.

He said no, it is written for masters.

Of course.

It's called De Agricultura, (On Agriculture) written by Cato the Elder around 160BC.  It is on agriculture, mainly, but with huge sections on slave management because that was really important to farming back in the days of Rome.

So there you go.

    1. That's very true. We tend to joke about there being some manual out there somewhere.

The non consensual form of slavery doesn't really resemble what we do very much at all.

  2. I agree with abby. Each Master seems to have his own thoughts on what a slave should do, and how.
